A Warehouse Management System (WMS) concerns the storage of goods that are kept for a longer period of time as stock or for a customer. The difference with a crossdock is that the goods are not immediately transported again. A transport load can be crossdocked, but there is more to a WMS.
De goederen gaan er in door middel van inslagen en er uit door middel van uitslagen:
Goods move through a warehouse through inbound orders and outbound orders:
A rate is often charged for the entry, exit and storage of a customer's goods.
Instead of goods, a WMS talks about articles.
Transport orders can again be created from outbound orders. Furthermore, transport orders can also become inbound orders.
