Sending e-mails from Transpas normally goes through Outlook Classic. However, requests for other e-mail programs are becoming more frequent. This may be because Outlook Classic is being phased out.
For this reason, a function has been added in Transpas to determine which e-mail program is preferred when sending mail from Transpas.
Note: This works starting from Transpas version 2.27.5.3
Not sure which version the user has? Check it in the app log under the Transpas logs.
Normally, Outlook Classic remains the preferred option, even after the more recent updates. The Transpas administrator of your company (or Art Systems) can configure this.
To set this up, go to the System Parameters (F11 > System Parameters).
Under the System Parameters tab, you will see the Email Client section. This can be configured with the following options: Outlook Classic, or the default application for .eml files.
By using the default application for .eml files, programs such as Outlook New, Thunderbird, and all other software will work with the Mail button in Transpas.
Note: If you select the default application for .eml files, also check the Windows settings to ensure the correct program is set as the default.
If you want to set this configuration per user, you can do so via F11 > Users.
Outlook New is fundamentally a very different type of application compared to classic Outlook. Classic Outlook has all files installed locally on the computer. Outlook New is entirely based on a web foundation. In practice, it works much like βoutlook.comβ, βgmail.comβ, etc. As a result, almost no files are stored locally on the computer anymore. This makes communication with Transpas more challenging in certain areas.
The most common issues that may be experienced with Outlook New are as follows:
Files with Exclude set to Yes will not be included when you drag an email message to an order in Transpas.
