In today's digital world, data is essential. A transport management system (TMS) like Transpas contains valuable information about shipments, invoicing, customer agreements, planning, and more.
Losing that data can have serious consequences for your business. That’s why it’s crucial to understand how your data is protected — and who is responsible for that protection.
While we ensure the proper functioning of the software and offer support for application-related questions, backup management and data protection are the customer’s own responsibility. This means that you (or your system administrator) are responsible for:
Make sure to discuss this with your system administrator or IT provider.
We provide software — not infrastructure or data management at customer locations. Every company has different needs when it comes to:
So it makes sense that you decide and manage how your data is protected.
Term | Description |
---|---|
Backup | A copy of your data, stored on a different medium or location, so it can be restored in case of loss or error. |
Retention period | The amount of time backups are kept. Shorter retention = lower storage costs, but fewer recovery options. |
RPO (Recovery Point Objective) | The maximum acceptable amount of data loss. E.g., with an RPO of 4 hours, up to 4 hours of data may be lost. |
RTO (Recovery Time Objective) | The maximum acceptable downtime before systems must be operational again. |
Off-site backup | A backup stored in a different physical location, such as in the cloud. |
Encryption | Securing backup data so unauthorized parties cannot access it. |
Although we don’t manage backups for you, we strongly recommend the following:
Situation | Consequence |
---|---|
Employee accidentally deletes shipment data | Without a backup: data permanently lost |
Server crash due to hardware failure or ransomware | Without off-site backup: potentially all data lost |
Database corruption caused by a power outage | Without retention: no older version available to restore from |
Take control of your data.
Your business depends on the information stored in Transpas — and it is your responsibility to protect that data with a solid backup strategy.
