For every shipment, we calculate the associated CO₂ emissions. This is done based on ISO 14083 and follows the guidelines of the GLEC framework, using actual transport data.
For your shipment, you will see three types of emissions:
All values are displayed in kilograms of CO₂.
The total emissions of your shipment are composed of all parts of the transport:
A truck often carries multiple shipments at once
The total emissions of that trip are distributed across all shipments
This is done based on:
The heavier and the farther your shipment travels, the larger its share of emissions.
For ferries or trains, a different method is used
Here we calculate using:
Your emissions =
(payload weight) × distance × emission factor
In some cases, the weight of the vehicle is also included in the emission calculation for the crossing.
If one or more shipments, or part of their route, are handled by an external party that determines its own planning, we also use a fixed emission per ton-kilometer.
This means your shipment or part of the route is assigned a direct emission value.
The CO₂ emissions of your shipment are determined by:
Your shipment always receives a fair share of the total emissions
The emissions calculation naturally also depends to a large extent on the vehicle profile and/or the configured vehicle characteristics.
